The Battle of Mukden

Privet! This week we will be focusing on the Battle of Mukden in art. The Battle of Mukden (February-March 1905) was the last major land battle of the Russo-Japanese War and one of the largest land battles before WWI. As such, both sides have depicted it in many forms.

This work was created by Vladimir Taburin and found in Niva magazine.

Great Imperial Crown

The Imperial Crown of Russia was used first for Catherine the Great’s coronation. Made by Jeremia Pauzie for the occasion, it is adorned with 4936 diamonds of various sizes.

Here Catherine is shown in her coronation regalia with the crown on the pillow next to her.
